RIP Micah True, a.k.a. El Caballo Blanco (1954 - 2012)

I'm about a week late with this post, but I just found out about the passing of the legendary ultra-marathoner and all-around good guy Micah True.  For those of you you who don't know, El Caballo Blanco ("the white horse") was the wily, free-spirited main character of Christopher McDougall's book Born To Run.  This is a huge loss for the running community and the world as a whole.  He was a good man and will be missed.
By morbid coincidence, Caballo was found dead just a couple of days after I finished reading Born To Run for the first time.  I had taken it with me on my little Hawaiian adventure and blew through from cover to cover in just over a day.  I was riveted and inspired, in large part because of the tales and history of the man known as Horse.
It's strange to feel so saddened by the loss of someone you've never met, but (as anyone who has read the book can attest) by the last page you can't help but feel close to the man who made the Copper Canyon Ultra Marathon possible.  Thank you, Micah, for being such an inspiration.
If you've never read the book, I cannot recommend it highly enough.  Even if you're not a runner, do yourself a favor and check it out...you won't be disappointed.
